American Gold Eagles are the official gold bullion coin of the United States and are the most popular gold bullion coin in the world. These coins debuted alongside their silver counterpart in 1986 but featured four bullion weight options. From 1986 to 1991 American Gold Eagles used Roman numerals but switched to Arabic numerals after. The series underwent its first major design change in 2021 when the reverse field was updated.
Each 2024 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle Coin will arrive in an NGC protective plastic slab to preserve the graded condition of the coin. These coins have been graded as MS70 which means they exhibit their full, original mint luster with no detractions of any kind. These coins are also Early Release specimens, indicating that they were received by the NGC within 30 days of the coin’s release.
The obverse side of the 2024 1/2 oz American Eagle Coin features the Augustus Saint-Gaudens depiction of Lady Liberty. The iconic figure is seen walking to the viewer holding an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other.
The reverse field of the 2024 American Gold Eagle Coin showcases the new American bald eagle design from Jennie Norris. The close-up portrait shows the eagle in left-profile relief with identifying marks of the coin surrounding it.
