This $10 Eagle coin was made from 1838 – 1907 and was designed by Christian Gobrecht. Throughout the years of production the design of this coin went through several design modifications, notably the obverse of this coin with the design of a bust surrounded by stars to a second design featuring a newer head which was introduced in 1839. The final design of this coin included the motto ‘In God We Trust’ which is now considered one of the most noticeable features of this coin.
