2012 Countdown to London Gold Proof £5 Crown four coin set Boxed

This box-set features four Proof five-pound gold coins, also known as the ‘Quintuple-Sovereign’ or the ‘Crown’. It was released to commemorate the 2012 London Olympics, and features four gold £5 Sovereigns representing events from the sporting competition.

Coins included depict four sports events:

• 3 – Swimming (2009 – limit 4,000 coins)
• 2 – Athletics (2010 – limit 3,000 coins)
• 1 – Cycling (2011 – limit 3,000 coins)
• Winners Podium (2012 – limit 3,000 coins)

The reverse of the coins were designed by the Royal Mint’s own senior designer, Claire Aldridge. The obverse portraits of Queen Elizabeth II were produced by Ian Rank-Broadley.

This £5 Gold coin set comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, and is protected in a smart London 2012 box.
