At the same time, the coins were the purest US gold coins issued in more than 150 years. The 22-karat American Gold Eagle includes 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper, and 3% silver.
Lady Liberty is on the obverse side of 2023 American Gold Eagle Coins. This design was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and is widely considered the most beautiful Liberty image ever to grace an American coin. It originally featured the $20 Gold Double Eagle.
An American bald eagle is on the reverse of 2023 1 oz Gold Eagle Coins. Jennie Norris created this design in 2020 and it was released for the first time in 2021 as the US Mint marked the 35th anniversary of the series.
